April 9th 2011 Scores

@ArchdukeFranz94 and @steen56h
You may have heard “It doesn’t matter if you’re the best, as long as you’re doing your best”, and this cuts both ways. If you’re a high achiever and expect to achieve a 35-36 and receive a 32 it is perhaps more disappointing (because of the high level of competition at this level) than expecting a 21-22 and only achieving a 15.
The American education system places a lot of pressure on students applying to college, the “people crying over getting 32’s and 34’s” are simply a reflection of this. Unfortunately, this is an inherent side-effect of the super-competitive college application process that occurs for those that are achieving in the “95 percentile” and above and are applying for top-tier colleges and merit-based scholarships.
I’m glad that you are happy with your score ArchdukeFranz94, but please don’t admonish others that simply want their scores to reflect their best work.

^^ In the same light, would you be pleased if you felt you could run a mile in 4 minutes and instead got a 4:30 in the actual race? I doubt it.

For those who run 8 minute miles, a 4:30 would be awesome, but chances are, the two aren’t in the same race.

It’s great if you are happy with a 21 (and I’m not being sarcastic). It’s also perfectly understandable why people might NOT be happy with a 32 or 34. It all depends on a specific ability and end goal.

C: 35

E: 35
M: 36
R: 36
S: 32

Science killed me!

For those of us who still do not have our scores, how long do we have to wait? Will scores be added this Wednesday and Friday? If anyone could explain to me the process (I’ve always received my scores at 1 am eastern) so I am not sure how this works.

I am very careful when filling out my information and confirmation numbers. I do not understand why there is a delay for so many of us.

^^^
This process is too random; I don’t like how online the ACT says “you might have to wait up to 8 weeks for your scores.” They should to have one universal score reporting date to alleviate the anxiety of students like us…

D1 scores:

C: 35

E: 36
M: 35
R: 34
S: 34

This makes her reaches more like matches. I’m so proud of her!

ACT.org says “If your scores are not available on the first date listed above, plan to check back weekly up through the last date listed. Scores are processed and added each week, usually each Wednesday and Friday. Normally, all scores are reported by 8 weeks after the test date.” so this Wednesday and Friday…and obviously Wed and Fri for the next few weeks (■■■)
I haven’t received them either…and honestly, I would expect that in Europe, although normally this shouldn’t happen, from what I heard…
But yeah, “universal date” would be nice and fair :P

D’s first time taking ACT?: yes, 35 (although her school gave “practice ACT” a few weeks ago)
Sat taken?: Yes, 2140.
Taking again? Probably not ACT but possible SAT II: Math, Physics next year.

My writing scores just got posted.

Composite: 25
English: 26
Math: 22
Reading: 27
Science: 26
Writing (2-12): 8
Combined E/W: 25

Haven’t gotten my scores yet either… How has someone already gotten their writting scores posted yet 1/3 of us have no scores…

I feel like writing a strongly worded letter to the officials concerning this predicament and elaborating on why there should be only one universal date…

Let’s use our democratic right of freedom of speech to discuss this issue, whether the location be at home or school…
:D

I’m so scared that the scores won’t be posted before the deadline to sign up for the June test. I hope there’s no one out there who’s missing a scholarship deadline because of this.

I got my essay scores too- 8 Combined E/W 29.

Pretty much what i expected. I zoned out at the beginning of the writing section and ended up writing a poor essay. But w.e.

Very happy considering I didn’t study at all… I’m more of an sat guy

30 English, 35 Math, 32 Reading, 36 Science

33 Composite

wanted a 34 or 35 to up my sat score but i’m happy with the 33, don’t fret if you didn’t do well. Study and take them again in june!!!

My 9th grader took the ACT for the first time. His scores were:

Composite - 24
Math - 27
Reading - 24
Science - 24
English - 22

@butaneVeins

Exactly. While this may not be true in my case, but there are probably those who cannot apply for scholarships or who are unsure as to whether they should re-take the ACT.

ACT needs to get its act (pun) together.

This is just one more reason I prefer the SAT.

Composite - 35
English - 35
Math - 36
Reading - 36
Science - 32

Same as bio1995. :open_mouth: I am so shocked about reading; that’s by far my worst subject!

my dtr’s composite score was 25… ugh! she was hoping for better

ACT: (Apr 2011)
Composite - 35
English - 34
Math - 36
Reading - 33
Science - 36

SAT: (Jan 2011)
Composite - 2290
CR - 760
Math - 740
W - 790

I’m thrilled, but it’s funny how Math & Science were tops on ACT and CR & W were tops on SAT. I’m not complaining. Just saying…

Is a 9 in writing good for a first timer?

I didn’t finish my essay but I had about 2 pages.
