April ACT Official English Thread

Two question:

 1. began or begun (I put begun)
 2. knew or known (I put known)

i dont remember…but did you get knew or known?

I put known

i put i forget if i put begun or began but i put knew.

I think I put known because it’s the past partciple and it said “had” before it

Wow I’m really glad so many people have similar opinions to the mother question. English is my best subject and that question had me sitting there for 3 minutes trying to see which one even made the slightest sense and even then, i had to go back to it when I finished the rest of test 1. All the choices just sounded bizzare to me! I can’t really remember which choice i put though…

Yeah the mother question was really awkward, I chose the one that said something like “The woman as I’d seen in pictures”.

does anyone know the answer to the question about kernals and chromosomes in the passage about corn? i was narrowed down to kernals, and kernals; i ended up choosing the semicolon i hope im right…

i’m pretty sure the answer to the began/begun question is begun (this is what i put on the test).

i found this: [began vs begun - UsingEnglish.com ESL Forum](<a href=“Ask a Teacher | UsingEnglish.com ESL Forum”>Ask a Teacher | UsingEnglish.com ESL Forum)

so began is on its own and begun always comes after have/had/etc.

I don’t think it was historical context because it was just a date…i said the time frame one when it was valid or wtv…what you guys think?

The answer with the words “historical context” was definitely the right answer.

^Yea, I think that’s what I put. It made the most sense to me.

yea u guys are right…idk why i would say the time frame one, that was such an easy question

was it

“were primarily”
or
“primarily were”

one of them was spelled primary so it was whichever one was spelled primarily…i wish there was like a legit place where it had every answer i heard they had that for the SAT

i can’t wait 2+ weeks for my scores im way too impatient

I think that within 5-10 years these tests are going to be taken on iPads and the scores will be given immediately after the testing is done. Honestly though, I wish they could just run them through the scantron machines at the school and tell us how we did

are u sure one of them was spelled “primary”?

^^^Me too. I hope mine actually arrive on the 26th because I have to take the ACT again on the 28th as a part of the Illinois PSAE, and I want to know if I actually have to try or not. Lol.

Yea, I’m scheduled for the SAT IIs on May 1, but if I do good on these the pressure will be off. I’m still gona try though because if I do good I may be able to use them for class placement

100% sure i had to look over it a few times because i had the same question as u
