April ACT: What did you think?

i also put they promoted their discovery with enthusiasm.

woohoo. during the break i was totally freaking out about it in my head.

Yeah, I was just going to put aside the idea that their drawings aren't necessarily to scale and wing it but I ran out of time and just bubbled in something wildly. Oh well.

i hope the curve for all sections is good.... i want a 34+

this is my second time taking it, so i'm not to great at estimating curves....

For the garden:
There are 96 inches total. You have to subtract 10 at the top and at the bottom for the borders, leaving you with 76 total. There can be 7 lengths of ten with 6 inches left over. 7 lengths-->8 total divisions.

For the mirror:
You know all the triangle angles add up to 180. The quadrilateral in the center adds up to 360. There were also some supplementary angles that I used. Answer was 70.

For the x inequality:
(x+4)(x-3)<0
In other words, (x+4) is positive and (x-3) is negative.
If x-3 is negative, x-5 must also be negative.

for the log3p2 log3p5 one, did you get 3^p+q

for the absolute value graph did u mean shaded part sandwiching the unshaded part

michelle: Yeah, it was 3^p+q, because that can be rewritten as (3^p)(3^q), which is (2)(5)=10.

Absolute value part: It was the one with the shading above and to the right as well as below and to the left, if I recall correctly.

So yeah.

CI180- I think you mixed up which one must be negative/which one must be positive, but that ws the right answer.

michelle - yes

petlee-- yes

Kerri - normally, the curve for math is -0=36 and -1/-2=35. I don't know if that varies with the difficulty of each administration of the test though?

summerinthecity: Sorry, I described it poorly...I'm awful at explaining graph answers.

how about that one with the square on the graph, y=ax+something. it just wouldnt work out for me. i think i put 1.

in the first reading passage what did you guys put for the question regarding Diane i put the narrator

diane was her mom. the narrator was emmie or something like that

i put one too.
and i put the narrator's mom. now that i think about it, i don't know why i did.

michelle: it was -1. y=-x+1 or something.

Diane was the mom. The friend referenced the grandmother and Diane moving in, so by process of elimination it must have been her daughter, the narrator's mother.

cuz marthas like "i remember when you(Ola) and diane moved in"
so diane wouldnt be the narrator, nor ola's neightbor, nor one of marthas friends.. that wouldnt really make sense

She was the narrator's mom. I don't remember the other question

michelle- i put 2/3 for the graph. i don't remember why, but it must have made sense at the time. :D

i dont think -1 was an option. it was a bunch of fractions with 5,6, and 7 and then 1 as the last choice

i was completely lost on that passage i thought the narrator was ola's roommate
