APUSH 2010 post exam thoughts

wait… how many pages are you supposed to write for the FRQs? My teacher never told us how to write those things, so I just wrote 1 page (front and back) for #3 and #4… I didn’t know we had to write 5 pages!!!

I wrote 3 pages (front and back) for the DBQ though…

Honestly, is that going to hurt me?

^quality over quantity

ooh look, our apush exam is posted online already (only frqs and dbqs of course):
[AP Central - The AP United States History Exam](<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board)

anyone else think form b was much harder? lol
how is who gets what form decided?

^^true true, although I doubt there was any real substance in mine compared to these other people

i dont remember anyone talking about those essay prompts in form B

yea me either o_O
maybe its for hmmm…those who had scheduling issues?

Form B is the one that’s given to everyone outside the US.

Right-o, so I was reading this forum and someone mentioned how the people who didn’t think it was easy should post, I’m half and half, so I shall post.

Firstly, I did the calculations, if I get a 3 on the DBQ, a 4 on one FRQ and a 3 on another FRQ and only 40 right of the MC, I should get a 3, this is compared to the previous years score ranges.

MC: It was alright. I have heard they go over questions and ones that many people get wrong, or they feel should not go there, are omitted. I guessed on 3-4 last minute, and skipped possibly 5-6.

DBQ: Where was this coming from? Left field? Never saw it coming, last year’s DBQ was from the Revolutionary period if I’m not mistaken. My teacher told me that it’s really unusual for the DBQ to be in such a close period to the last year’s AP test. Still, I cited the documents, but I didn’t include outside specifics. My intro was worded shaky, and the thesis wasn’t too clear, but hopefully I get a 3-4, but from what I’ve read here, I might even get a 5-6? Man, if that happened, I would jump for joy. Literally.

FRQ #3: I rocked this one, I said how the South was economically and socially different from North. I got lucky that we did a practice the within the last month before, and coincidentally it was on this! Really just jump-started my brain.

FRQ #5: I said how Suburbanization, was from Levittown, people were able to afford more homes, some didn’t like comformity, reshaped living in U.S. forever. Oh, and for the immigrants, I just said how they were in the Civil Rights along with African Americans and women. This was the most difficult FRQ for me, because I couldn’t remember anything for the other topic, BS’ed half a page about women then crossed it out. For this one I didn’t really use any specifics, might hurt me, unsure.

Eh, I hope I get at least 3, if I got a 4 that would be rocking.

Oh, and I have heard that some things may not be allowed to be posted about the test so if I posted anything, let me know, thanks!

One last thing, what do you guys think of how I did? E.G was it enough, will the graders be lenient? Also, how do you think the curve this year will be?

The multiple choice and the FRQs couldn’t have been better =D

I knew something like that Puritan DBQ would come up. I KNEW IT. Too bad I spent all day preparing for a DBQ on Indians and/or African Americans. (sigh). I shouldn’t have prepared so much for a DBQ on minorities. Heck, my uber conservative APUSH teacher caught me reading a People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn on the morning of the exam and he looked like he was about to kill me lolz.

But, But, Howard Zinn is awesome!

We did a lot of packets with his thoughts on events, it was really neat.

The FRQ’s were alright, but some of the MC could’ve definitely been better.

So, we are definitely allowed to talk about the specifics of the test now? At least the, essays?

We can talk about the essays.

This was my first AP exam ever, so I’m really glad it’s done and over with.

Ehh, the more I think about it the more paranoid I get… multiple choice could’ve been a lot better and I know I missed several because I was just panicking and not thinking properly. XP I probably skipped around 10? Guessing I got around 50/70 then.
Everyone I asked said it was easy though, so more reason to worry and panick. x)

DBQ wasn’t so bad, I talked about city on a hill, church being the center, emphasis on education, and then kinda bsed the economy part. I did FRQ #2 and #4; ehhh for #2, I talked about Thomas Paine’s Common Sense, Continental Army, diplomatic relations with French, and some other stuff… as for #4, hahaha, just threw in stuff about the Triangle Shirtwaist fire, 19th amendment, Alice Paul, etc. I’m just worried about being slightly out of the time period. x(

Any of you know what it takes to get at least a 5 on the essays? Are they very strict on grading?

Ugh, I really wanted a 5, but now I’m not even sure if I even got a 4. What makes me mad though is putting a lot of time and effort into this class throughout the entire year just to get like a 3 simply because I freaked out on the exam. XP

Another quick question, we can be vague about the multiple choice, as long as we don’t say what the question is about, we can be like “I didn’t like the question about the books”.

we dont ever know what we get on essays, right?

Anyone else doubting what they scored on their essays? I’m looking at the sample responses on essay prompts from previous years, and some of the essays that scored a 3 or a 4 look a lot like what I would write. =/

Zaxara - on #3 did you base your answers on the slavery issue? thats what the question was

and the only score we ever get is 1,2,3,4 or 5

and i think to write at least a 5, you should have a detailed thesis that answers the entire question, be able to support it averagely, don’t write off topic, don’t have a lot of BS, stay within the time period mainly

that’s in my opinion, but you should check out the scoring guidelines on collegeboard past tests

Aye, “Bleeding Kansas”, Fugitive Slave Law, economics of the agricultural South and Urban North, immigrants and low wages, etc etc.

Nobody answered my question about how we phrase MC to each other/if we get in trouble for it. :x I don’t want my test to be invalidated, >.<.

I think it would be best to just keep quiet about the MC for the rest of our lives xD

CB scares me o.o

Would it really matter if you had already graduated from college?

I mean you have the degree, so even if you got it on AP credits…and then the school would have to revoke it, which idk if they would.

Not saying that you should, but its just a thought lol

Yeah, it would be terrible if our scores got invalidated.
