hey guys!
so, i'm a rising sophomore and i have been recommended to
take AP world history for next year but my schedule just won't let me
because I have orchestra and foreign languages.
So I decided to give up on AP world history and will just going to take honors for this class
and then planning to take AP U.S history in my junior year.
Some say AP world is better than APUSh and some say APUSH is better than APworld.
Which one's better to take?

Honestly, they’ll probably count the same for college credit. They both counted only for elective credit at my college. It’s the class experience that’ll be different, and that all depends on your school.
I got a better grade on APUSH exam, but AP world was the class I’d take again. Although APUSH was a fun and enjoyable class (and I learned to like US history more), my teacher for world was amazing and taught me a lot more than history. I still keep in touch with him. I’d talk to upperclassmen in your school to see what they say. Ask them about the teachers and how fun the class was. Because if you only take one or the other, colleges won’t really see the difference.

thanks! inneedofpencils^^

I’ve seen several schools where APUSH gives 6 hours of credit (they often split up colonial-1877, and 1877 - present) while they only give 3 for World History, since it is only 1 semester.

thanks otherwindow!

ap world is seriously a joke, you can totally just self study for it. apush on the other hand is much harder because it goes so in depth =more things to memorize whereas ap world is pretty general.

i got a 3 on the ap world exam by self studying, had no how to do the essays and asked my friend how to do it literally 10 minutes before the test.

i was hoping for a 4, but if you study more than you can get a 4

APUSH for sure. Having taken both I can also say the material in APUSH is a lot more interesting.

US history AP is a harder AP test. World is a lot more broad, so if you don’t like studying a particular culture it’s over in a few pages usually, while AP US is all about the US, obviously, and a shorter time span as a result. It depends on which you prefer.

For my school, AP Worlds is for the daring Sophomores- college level scares kids.

APUSH is reputably on par with AP Chem at times- the amount of content is just horrific. DBQs and FRQs are just acronyms for nightmares. Its not hard, but just meticulous.
