Hi I took the APUSH exam today and while I think I did very well on the DBQ and brought in a lot of outside information, I didn't have time to write a concluding paragraph! I needed to get onto the other essays, and when I went back to it I ran out of time. Will not having a concluding paragraph really hurt my essay score if the points I brought in were good?

Thanks

conclusion doesn’t hurt at all. it’s all about the factual information. my teacher instructed us to not even write a conclusion so we can have more time for facts.

Yeah I had like a 3 sentence conclusion, that’s no big deal. How much did you guys write? I think I brought in a solid amount of outside info, really hoping for a 5.

i wrote 2.5-3 pages. it was really hard for me to bring outside info in the DBQ though.

no conclusion is needed on any essay for any history ap exam.

The conclusion truly isn’t necessary and certainly will not detract from your overall score. If you felt that you utilized enough documents and substantiated them with a solid amount of outside information you will still do well! The conclusion certainly seals the bow on the package perfectly, but you certainly will still do great no matter what. I am sure you did great, don’t stress about it! It’s over, and you did the best you could do.

My DBQ was 4.5 pages, and I used every document. Did you guys use every document?

Okay, thanks for the reassurance guys!
Mine was also about 4.5 sides. How many documents are enough?

I did a bit over 4 pages, and excluded 1 document. I could have written more, but I used like half the prep time to outline my other essays so they would sound good too. I mean it was easier for me to think more clearly before I exhausted myself later in the day. But good luck everyone! Conclusions don’t generally provide any good info anyway, so don’t sweat it!

In order to get an 8 or 9, you should have used all of them. How many did you use?

Ah, I don’t remember how many I used! I think I forgot to refer some of them. Like the town square map I know for sure I referenced but I’m not sure if I explicitly said (DOC B). Oh, well there goes my 5!

Not true! You do not have to get a perfect score on the DBQ to get a 5! You probably did great. It’s alright if you did not reference (Doc B) as long as you referred to the map you will be fine. Don’t sweat it, seriously!!

Uhm, that’s not what I have heard…pretty sure you can still get 8-9 without using all of them.

Ah, ok, phew The rest of the test was pretty easy, so I still might’ve done well.

Haha, after the MC I felt pretty calm still, the DBQ made me , and the only thing that worries me is my handwriitng and some organizational stuff for the other essays. Although I did wish that I did essay #4…good luck :)

I had a conclusion of ~ 3 sentences for each one and i think I did pretty well…and you definitely don’t need to use all of the documents to get a 5. It’s all about the outside information

My teacher told me the rule of thumb on documents is half plus one… so I used 6.
