I'm currently a junior enrolled in regular US history. My school does not offer honors or AP history. I was looking over the practice questions for APUSH and I seemed to be able to answer about 80% correctly of them with information from my class or from readings/documentaries I've done on my own (I love history). Now, I'm wondering if I should take the exam. Thoughts?

well the essays will be the thing you have to prep for on your own in a month…if you think you can get a review book and buckle down to understand how to do them properly then sure/

Yeah…The essays are what seemed the most difficult because we don’t do anything like that in my class.

i would say go for it! it doesnt hurt to give it a shot. plus, you can look at example essays online and practice and get other people to give tips. self studying is a really great skill, and it’s not that much work, especially if it’s something you’re interested in.

I would love to go for it, and your right I have nothing to lose, except the $90 of course. I think I’ll order a practice book and talk to some people in my area who have taken the exam.

FYI, even if you answer the questions 60-75% correctly, you can score a 5 as long as you rock the essays (7+ on each). :)

What looks more impressive to colleges? A AP US History score of 4 or 5 or a SAT US History subject test score in 700+ . I don’t care about the credits from the AP. Just about impressing. Also which test is suppose to be more difficult?

Usually the AP tests are harder than the subject tests.

The AP test is harder. You need to check with your school though because AP registration may be closed (I know it is at my school).

SAT II’s are far more important than the corresponding AP scores

bump bump bump
