Hi. I'm currently taking APUSH. I've relied solely on AMSCO for the entire year for my class simply because my class is that easy. However, when a few days ago, when I took a look at past FRQs and DBQs, I've realized simply AMSCO is not enough. There's not enough detail/depth to answer them properly. (For ex. the term republican motherhood is never mentioned, among other things.) What can I do to ensure that I get a 5? Would reading Crash Course be enough?

bump bump
I would like to know as well!

Crash Course + AMSCO is a great combination that should give you a 5 if you take some practice tests. Crash Course is a great last minute reviewer, and the “Key Terms” section fills in everything that AMSCO doesn’t.

You could also go with the new Direct Hits book, which I’ve heard is pretty good. I personally have the former combination, and I have been using it to study for a month now. I think it’s great.

i love direct hits. our class used american pagaent textbook which caused a bit of confusion for me because the chapter order for those books are different.

My class uses the American Pageant as well. I swear that it has more witty phrases, puns, old song lyrics, etc. than it does factual knowledge. I hate it so much.

Crash course is a good option but DH is better. It’s about 100 pages longer and has great tips and links to AP Central. It should be really good it’s written by the same person.
