Are there any tips of strategies that anyone found useful while taking APUSH? School just started this week and I was wondering if I should be doing anything specific to prepare for the AP exam right now? I’ve never taken an AP course before, so I’m not sure what to expect.</p>
Get the AMSCO book.</p>
While it may seem hard to keep up with all the stuff your studying currently, don’t forget to go over old things to keep them fresh in your mind.</p>
Say if you’re on chapter 5, just take a few minutes each week to go back through your notes for chapters 1 through 4.</p>
When the AP Exam comes around, you can relax while everyone else is cramming (:</p>

Memorize. Don’t buy the whole “history is about making connections and understanding” thing. You’ll be fine if you learn a ton of facts and don’t wait until the last minute. If you have a good class, you shouldn’t have to do this on your own, just make sure you keep up.</p>

Actually making the connections and understanding is important for the essay section.</p>
^Filling your essay to maximum capacity with facts and figures is much more important.</p>
^Being able to analyze (understand) is much more important than listing facts.</p>
^Not in the context of AP US it’s not. I’m not sure if there’s a paradigm shift between how different school’s taught the class, but the most effective way to get a 5 on the test is to incorporate a large amount of facts into your writing.</p>
