APUSH- IN CLASS tests-how to study?

I’m wondering how you guys study for chapter tests in your APUSH class.

I was a straight A student last year(10th) with APs and honors, but I’m getting Cs in APUSH now… and literally Ds on the tests…

I don’t read the entire chapter… I just read AMSCO, because I find the book too long… Im wondering how you guys study for the chapter tests… I know people getting 95+ and im getting below 60…?

HELP

Thanks,

Read the book!!!

If you were doing good without reading the book, I would support your decision to go only with AMSCO, but for an APUSH test, AMSCO will definitely not be enough. If you are struggling in any way, read the book! It does not take that long, and will bring a great deal of benefits to you! :)

I don’t know about you, but my APUSH in-class MC tests are keyed to my textbook (American Pageant). The only way for anyone to do good on them is to read the chapters. If I have a three-chapter test, for example, I will read one chapter a day, 3 days from the test, to ensure that I have ample time to read everything and that the material is fresh. Just doing this (and no studying) is enough for me to get a 95+ on each test. It varies from person to person and how each school’s tests are, but reading your textbook is pretty much the only sure way to guarantee that you learn everything you should know (obviously, stuff is tested that will never show up on the AP exam, so reading a prep book usually doesn’t work).
