I am taking APUSH my freshman year. Will colleges see that and take that into account when looking at the score I get? The class is taught at a 3 level, but I am going to do studying on the side to try and get a 4 or a 5. No guarantees though.
Well it’s on your transcript as a course taken as a frshman, so yes.
No. You get no extra credit for taking it as a freshman nor do you get a pass if you underperform in either the class or on the exam.
@skieurope Thanks! That’s what I thought, just wanted to confirm.
Another question. If I am sitting for the AP exam, should I take the USH SAT subject test?
Well, you might as well. The SAT subject test is easier than the AP, so if you cover all the necessary material when taking the AP, it’s the same material that will be on the subject test.
The USH subject test is quite different from the AP. The AP is all about document analysis and knowing the trends, so don’t memorize super specific facts. It won’t help you. You’re going to need to know some more specific facts for the USH subject test if I remember correctly. (Got a 5 on the AP and 800 on the subject test).
@pupscotch I actually thought the AP was so much easier than the subject test LOL idk maybe I’m just really weird?
@emilyskates I found the subject test easier, it’s probably different for everyone.
Regardless, if you sit for the AP exam, if you study a little bit extra for the subject test, you might as well do both.
