I'm an Elliott School student who went through registration on the 8th. I didn't get into ARAB 001 (and it is not offered second semester...only ARAB 002). To any current students or knowledgable, what would you suggest I do? I don't want to be a year behind, but I don't suspect that there will be any (or many) seats on July 13th. What are the chances of a professor signing an RTF form? Also, I already emailed the professor.

the only way a professor is going to let you in, is if she/he has less than 15 students in class. all languages are capped at 15 students, and thats a university policy. so you will just have to keep an eye out for any arabic classes that open up. also, keep in mind, that it is almost certain that after the first week or two of arabic classes, people will drop out just bc it may be more difficult than they had intended, so that will open up a few slots, but after the first 2 weeks period of classes it will be too late and you will probably just have to wait till next year

This happened to my D last year. She is glad she waited now though because she switched to Chinese which she is taking this fall. She did find that a couple spots opened up in Arabic over the summer by checking everyday but decided to wait anyway due to her great schedule. Good luck!

Thanks guys. Luckily an Gen Registration I got into the second to last spot.
