Hello. =] I was wondering if there were any Arabs here, where you're from, what schools you're interested in applying/transfering to and if you're a current student, have you had any trouble when studying in the states -- like are people accepting or are there any stereotypes applied to you and what about airports and stuff?

airports are a nightmare, otherwise fine. expect lots of extra searches, your own special queue, and nervous looks on flights.

Is it worse with guys than girls?

There's a special queue for Arabs? 0.o

obviously it depends on the entire image you give off. a young arab travelling alone certainly gets more attention. when i went a year ago, a few of us( all looking arab) were searched extra and got on the plane last. The plus side was that we got the seats at the front with extra legroom:)

ooh-la-la, at least we get the good seats. wonderful.

where u applying?

I always thought that the Middle East ended at Syria and Lebanon. I've always considered Turkey to be an Asian/Europian nation. I guess I was wrong...

Yeah, Turkey is a European country, but I guess the identify themselves more with Middle Eastern people than say, Russians (?). And there also is a Kurdish population in Syria :)

there are Kurdish ppl in Syria?? didn't know that.
and I've always wondered, are Russians Asian or Europian?

Russians are Eastern European.

but more than two thirds of the country is in Asia. wouldn't that make them Asians.

dude. lol. I don't know. look it up in wikipedia?

i will, and i think I'm right. They may not look Asian but they are Asiana geographically. Like Egyptians, part of egypt is in Asia, so egyptians are African-Asian people. lol
