I might be going to Cal this fall as an undergraduate. I got in for undeclared--college of letters and science. however, i am thinking about transferring to the college of environmental design because i may want to pursue architecture. Do any of you know how difficult it is to transfer to that college especially if i have NO experience in that field whatsoever???

is the architecture program also better than the one at UCLA?

"Students registered at the University of California, Berkeley, who wish to transfer into the College of Environmental Design must wait at least one Semester from the time of their admission to Berkeley before changing colleges. The application deadlines are from the first week of the fall semester until November 1, and from the first week of the spring semester until June 1 (landscape architecture applicants must apply in the fall only for admission the following fall semester). Applicants are assessed based on their current progress toward completion of the program, ability to complete the program in the required number of semesters established by the College of Environmental Design, and overall academic performance."

oh. thanks! but i saw that on the site already. I posted here cause i am actually wondering if i can get some actual imput from someone who goes to Cal who knows more about it...like i said..how difficult it is to enter the program especially based on my situation

Experience does not matter because all architect majors entering call probably have the same level of experience (which is none).

As long as you take and do well Environmental Design 1 as well as doing well in all your other classes your 1st semester, you should have a very good chance of getting in. (You should also take math 16a or 1a your 1st semester if you have not passed out of it)

If you really want it and are willing to work hard for it, there is no reason why you should not be able to do well and get in.
