Architecture schools in California

Hi! I'm a junior in high school right now planning on majoring in architecture, but I really want to stay in California. What are the best school choices?

Also, deciding to major in architecture is a recent choice. I've always been interested in art, but I never really considered it before. I know there are different types of degrees, but I don't know the details.

Also, I know some school require portfolios.....should I start on this now? What sort of things should be in it?

By the way, I've taken art since Freshman year (in advanced right now) and I'm planning on taking AP Portfolio and self-studying AP Art History next year.

I'm not the best at math, but I do get B's to A-'s usually. I'm in pre-cal right now and I might take calculus next year.

There has a been a thread made for this question already.

Here are the schools that are in California(from the top of my head)

{}U.Berkeley - B.A
{}California College of Arts - CCA - B.A
{}UCLA - B.A (architectural studies, portfolio required, opened Fall 07, mainly 3rd and transfer students) -B.A
{}USC - B.arch (portfolio required)
{} Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - B.arch
{} Cal Poly Pomona - B.arch

Specific Architecture Schools
-S.C.I.arc
-New school of architecture

1.What sort of things should be in it?

depends. go to their department and look at their requirements. From the top of my head

UCLA - 3 creative works of anything
USC - 15 creative works( check for specifics, forgot)

This really depends on your preference of how and what each program tries to aim for. It's like asking, whos is a better designer .. Frank lloyd Wright or Le Corbusier ?

I believe when I was selecting schools, each had a different approach to the field. If you wanted to be technical, hands on, it would be the Cal Poly's. I can only vouch for San Luis Obispo because I was able to see their program and studio in person. A lot of model making. Pomona, I have nothing to say, but I'm sure it follows the curriculum of SLO. Schools like U.Berk and USC are concentrated on theory. I've only been to U.Berk and experience their studios in person. I think it's best to go and actually check out what they do, their studio, and see if you like their ambiance and if it fits you well.

EDIT:

California College of arts and crafts
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Pomona
NEw school of Architecture and Design
Southern California Institute of ARchitecture (Sci-ARC)
University of California, Berkeley
University of Califronai, Los Angeles
University of Southern California
Woodbury University.

Which school is the best between Ucla and Woodbury?
