Which of these schools should I not apply to in your opinion? I need to narrow down this list... If possible could you point out which of them don't need a portfolio/needs one?

California Polytechnic State University: San Luis Obispo
California Polytechnic State University: Pomona
City University of NY: City College
University of Central Florida
Temple University
Hobart and William Smith Colleges
North Carolina State University
Penn State University Park
Hampton University
University of Washington
Andrews University
Lawrence Technological University
Howard University

From all these colleges is there any which is a 'no-no' for architecture?
Your input will help me a lot, thank you :)

Yayaya, Some of these schools are 5 yr programs some are 4+2. Each schools website states whether you need to a portfolio. The schools are also pretty different so you need to hone in on what you are looking for first then contrast a few schools to narrow them.

The Cal poly’s are CA state schools and are dedicated to CA students first so you must be exceptional to get in if you are not instate.

Also most schools have some type of portfolio review. Either in the beginning to get entrance, end of the freshman year or even end of the sophmore year like Univ of Wash. That means you are not really in the program until you pass that review.

Thanks Lakemom your input really helped me, since my application doesnt shout ‘exceptional’ I dont think I’ll bother applying to the CA state schools…

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has begun this year admitting many more students from out of state (mostly due to budget crisis). Its school of architecture is top-notch and the application process is easy. It can’t hurt to apply :)
