Architecture?

i meant i did the SATI in may/june this year and that was grade 10, not grade 11. im CURRENTLY in grade 11.

Jrock, my internet is screwing up so i can't go online for more than 5 min...don't know why~

yeah, i was wondering why you were not on. by 4800x1200, i was referring to printer resolution and not the image resolution. my default image res. is 96 dpi. i think converting it to a PDF would give the best results.

hi18, i'm Nigerian.

you know yesterday i was going to continue with the Texas app and the IIT app right, and this happened....

oh...and the reason why i'm asking about the PDF editor is because the one i downloaded yesterday does not support png. ahahhah

what's png?

does it make sense to take both the math level 1 and level 2?

png is a graphis file i guess...i think it's default for firefox. hmmm..that's a good idea, maybe save it all as jpg and format.

i think i read somewhere taking IC and IIC makes you look like you have another high mark, but when they take a closer look they don't think you have accomplished much...there's already a math section in SAT I, soo...

you know i was just going on IIT app, and internet screwed up AGAIN~~

i can imagine how frustrating it is. btw, IIT's application is in fact the common-app style. Not too different.

i was just off again~ what are you working on?

you know i was just asking whether or not i should still apply to IIT and Texas...so is this supposed to be a no?

i think you should still apply to IIT.
i'm working on applications/ec's and stuff. and doing a great deal of sober reflection.

?sober reflection? what's wrong?

well, at times like this, when i'm alone in the night, away from all the noise, i find it easy to reflect on my circumstances, my hopes, my dreams, and of course, the brutal realities...it's a wonderful exercise.

hey, check this out:
[it's from harvard http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/faqs/international/test/][/url]

Harvard does not have clearly defined, required minimum scores; however, the majority of students admitted to the College represent a range of scores from roughly 600 to 800 on each section of the SAT I as well as on the SAT II Subject Tests. We regard test results as helpful indicators of academic ability and achievement when considered thoughtfully among many other factors. The Admissions Committee understands that international students may not be as familiar with the SAT and ACT formats as American citizens. Nevertheless, international students who distinguish themselves for admission often present the Committee with exceptionally strong standardized testing by any measure.

hey, i'll pm you just now.

sorry, were you going to send a pm? ai, stupid internet!

mnaghh hi everyone
first break in awhile, i forgot what homework was like so now my life is school-sc-soccer-hw-sleep-school... etc. and its really sad and im sooo tired. but the cool thing is, seniors at my school get soo many cool priveleges and stuff so its pretty sweet while im there. i caught up a little on the thread haha and decided i only have time to post once or twice a weekend, so sad. :( but im still working on PFEA - my own special acronym i made up, arent you proud? (portfolio essays apps). i met with my school's college advisor the other day and let me just say it was a bloodbath, thats the only way to describe it. dreams smashed... i can definitly understand whats going on with you bneg.... lol. but the summary is that although i have 3 colleges that she is 99% sure I can get into and some others that are "50/50 chance" I have "no realistic financial options" except Harvard (which is one of the 50-50's) because they do some deal where the two lowest income brackets in the US automatically go for free and I guess I'm in there somewhere. But anyway so shes making me apply to Umass cause i get the instate tuition break and possibly U. Vermont. (although I am completely in love with U vermont, sadly it does not offer arch, environ. design, or anything close)

haha heres something totally unrelated but i think its worth saying cause its totally awesome... for my "world cultures" class we're studying classical china and we have to memorize one confucian analect per day, eventually all of them... so i have serious issues with memorizing things so I've been turning them all into raps and it works great! the only problem is my teacher calls on one person a day to recite that day's one aloud and i kinda messed it up because I was trying not to say it as a rap but know thats cool! :) (lol now does anyone know what im talking about at all? if you dont thats cool too)

SO! whats up with y'all -- what up h18, having fun with this thread? it takes some serious time commitment... im from mass., us. and in case it wasnt clear im a girl (jrock informed me he got a little confused lol). did you say something about english is your first language but youre from hong kong? is that true of most people there? one of the programs im looking into is at U. hawaii and they do 2 exchange years one each to hong kong and student's choice in europe... that would totally take the fun out of it if everyone spoke english haha!

jrock, did you ask the question about 1C/2C? Ive heard from lots of places that it looks really bad on an application if you:
took the 1C, did really well, then had appropriate schooling to take the 2C but then didnt take it.

what else? dunno? ill post again soon probably while i still have my precious weekend!

yeah, but what if you took the 2C and did really well, does it look smart to do the 1c just to get a high score on your app?...lol, the funny thing about memorising things is that it has to come out the way you put it in. otherwise there'd be trouble, lol...yeah the PFEA - one huge mountain you wonder how you'll ever climb - but we'll reach the summit over to the other side, hopefully.
marlgirl has a featured discussion on essay writing advice here on cc...

jcro, are you going to apply harvard EA? i finally finished '20000 leagues under the sea' today. the final moments were riveting, heart-stopping...classic! one thing i wish about books is that the pages don't exist so when you read, you won't know when you're getting near the end...don't you think?

bneg, pls check email.

Attention, attention! we need more users on this thread. btw, fallinwater0328 has all but disappeared.

hahahha, this thread is turning more into a private journal thing...i guess it's super hard to keep up for new users with all the amiling & pm's!!!!

Jcro2006, not only have i memorized confucian stuff i turned them into RAP...(in Mandarin tho, so it's A LOT weirder) those were happy happy times....when things press you hard on every side, often a way is provided, and that way if almost always mostly insane~
i can't believe your gc is making you apply to schools! i don't know how the system works down there but i would not let ANYONE decide for me what i want to do.

you go girl (they say that in boston? haha you can tell i'm not american~ learned this from the egg commercial!!! hahahaha)

oh...still. i think i read somewhere the advice is that 2 high marks in IC & IIC don't count much....also, IIC is more important anyway for science/phys related stuff like arch.

Jcro2006: in hk there are ppl who can speak english fluently and then there's the ppl who can't speak it fluently or can't even speak it at all. i can speak english fluently cuz i used to live in canada; im canadian =]

wat's amiling & pm's? so r all of u applyin to unis this yr, like currently?

ok, my fault, it's emailing....i was typing wayy to carelessly! pm is private message; click on a user name and you can see "send a pm to this person".

h18, i know someone who is cantonese, born in Canada, went back to hongkong and returned to Canada in Gr.12 to prepare for university. Are you sort of like him?

i think we are all applying right now. PFEA is so cool! i think it should be pronounced P-FEA, (Pee-fee) ahahahah

basically im a hong kong-born canadian. born in hk went to canada for a few yrs and den came back to hong kong.

good luck with ur applications!
