okay, bneg. is it possible to change your sat subject test choice on test day?

i've not even tried yet cos i've not finished uploading everything to the pc. is it possible to compress it further/reduce the quality? i think that will make it faster...

i've emailed you a sample, reduced it to 18kb. 1sec to upload.

jrock, it is possible to change your subject. it is even possible to take more than you have intended, or less; they give no refunds but they'll definitely charge! they're so cheap! they're already rich anyway so why don't they get nicer support people on the phone lines? haha never mind~

i like what you've sent me! i think it's very 'moody', like poetic. i would've reduced, but i was trying to show you how different they were....i guess it's impossible then~ i will reduce them and we can*** !

you know i would never have overcome my laziness to redo a portfolio...it sure it A LOT of work. hope everything goes well for you! oh, and i am thinking about IIT again...remember the DI rankings? I think IIT was actually 12th in the original list that went beyond the top ten program. also, they have the crown scholarship so even tho we don't qualify, i think they are interested in strong architecture applicants in stead of just strong applicants right now (unlike mcgill), so this might be something good for us!

i've never called CB but a friend who called said they were very nice on phone, and painstakingly attended to him, lol.

thanks. that was one of my sketches. i've got four of them now. and i guess sketching is a good way to really express yourself, you know, and let off the steam.

i was reading a book on Winning the Heart of the College Admissions Dean by Joyce Mitchell - said to send in a poem, a piece of art, some research paper or some award notice by Feb/march before the decisions.....but just for the sake of it, I think we shouldn't give up the habit of designing/drawing. so even after applying, we can still be working on portfolios. and also over the summer, till we get in...

bneg, i'm really wanting to go to a very small school...IIT has a little over 1000 and so do Rice, RWU, and some others..though Cornell has only a little over 500 in the CAAP...

btw, how many pieces have you got in your pf? i've got about 14 [6 of them from the former pf] now but i need more, more, more. syracuse says the no. of pieces show the amount of time and commitment you've put. and i've still got a few assignments, things that i must draw...

are you applying to McGill?

wassup Jcro, RWU has become a strong choice for me - everyone follows a core curriculum in foundation years regardless of major. it's small and student-oriented - no TA's...i never knew there was an RWU until you mentioned it to me.

what's more, you can choose from among 3 programs - 5yr, 4+2, and 4yr non-pro. students are encouraged to minor in various areas...i only wish they had an EA program. it's really worth it.

bneg, check out this pf advice on RWU: http://arch.rwu.edu/SAAHP_content.html
really different schools have diff. outlooks. quite unlike syracuse which i think looks for more of plain art...are you also thinking rwu?

i have to apply to mcgill in case i don't get enough aid....but i really don't like it! the only thing i like about it is that it's half-year shorter.

what is RWU? i'm checking it out.....i have 20 pieces, and i will be sending them to you when you are ready to receive! it's a rar file of 719 kb....drastically less than what i had before: a simple png file would be like .99 MB!

question: i can't find the PF advice!! is it under student works? that's the only image part i can see...
the timeline is so cool tho!

wow! i'm sure your pf is stunning. yeah, when i'm done with mine, then we'll send.

rwu = roger williams uni

not really much of a pf advice. what i just wanted you to see was the range of 'media' in the pf req. section.

i can't really find it either~~ ahaha....what is your criteria for choosing a school? i just heard cooper is on the decline because of their financial crisis. and tulane just...you know. i really lost my way!

oh, i see it! sounds like a more professionl school, but why do schools put a limit on pieces? maybe so they can have a better look a teach while others want to test abilities to multi-task and meet a deadline?

i really hope people will help cooper up cos it's offering an excellent education...well rwu doesn't place a limit on pf works but of course, there has to be a limit for most. i don't see someone going through 30 pieces or more of pf work. it gets a detailed review and time is short. but i guess someone with a very wide range may include as many as do justice to his ability. i don't think the reviewers will be impressed with repetition of the same basic skills. that's why USC says - be selective, show only your best work...while many schools won't specify - like rwu, etc - i guess they don't expect people to have so much time to do more than 25...but if that's the case, as syracuse puts, they'll sorta see your level of commitment, etc

criteria:
- do i feel the school? does it click?
- small campus, sense of community, everyone on campus
- liberal artsiness
- challenging academic program

that's about all. and other things.

ha, going through 30 is like a joke now. i used to think i could handle that no problem until i finnished 9.

going to the library~ bye!
btw, which schools do you think that *click??

well, rwu, conn.coll...

alright later. but check out this essay at conn. coll:http://www.conncoll.edu/admissions/essays/2009/09faro.html. i think it's simply beautiful.

ahh, this is so interesting! i can't believe the college was kind enough to share these essays.....i could never write something like that, i would be confused by the first three sentences ^~^ i seriously thought she had a disease! hahah, silly me~

yeah, that was a really wonderful technique. i really enjoyed it. the final sentence lingered in my mind. now, that's the impressive essay!

Rice definitely clicks, too.

cornell sent me an email to meet with a "local" alumni in Toronto.....i'm on the west coast!

Jrock, good news!!! you know, since you're not *clicking with only professional programs, several programs in europe and australia are less than 4 years...wee! there' even a 3+2 program in sydney...
