Are 19 units too many?

Spring semester is coming up and I’m planning my schedule out. I’m thinking about taking these classes (units in parentheses):
Foundations of Modern Math (4) - upper division math course that focuses on proofs and is the prerequisite for every other upper division math class at my school
Writing as Healing (4)
Inro to Env Sci + Lab (4)
Cyberdemocracy (4) - This class is online and I don’t know anything about online classes
Intro to Human Sexuality (3)

This semester I’m only taking 12 units (but I’m taking 2 “difficult” math classes - discrete and calc 3 which is vector/multivariate calculus) and I have sooooo much free time it’s pretty crazy. I currently have straight A’s (perfect 100s in all 3 classes) so I was thinking about taking those 5 classes next semester, along with a tutoring job that takes 3 hours a week. This will be my second semester at my university (Cal State Monterey Bay) and I’m a freshman. Thoughts? Thanks! Oh, and I’m majoring in math if that’s relevant.

That’s quite a big jump but if it’s extremely easy then you will have to judge your potential yourself. I’d say do it just because you can drop without penalty the first week or so I think.

The lab may be time consuming, even if it is (intellectually) easy.

It will be on the heavy side, but I think you’ll be fine.

I’m a sophomore math and CS double major with one official minor and a second unofficial minor and I am consistently at ~23 credits (we use units instead so it doesn’t convert cleanly), of which ~18 units are academic courses each semester (my minor is music, so I have lessons and ensembles). It hasn’t been that bad.

I’m taking 19 units at a community college and I don’t have to work right now, thankfully. I don’t have much of a social life either lol but this is my first semester attempting this… Two sciences, a math, and 2 humanities. It’s tough, I’m falling behind in chemistry and each class this semester requires a lot of reading and preparation but hardly any assignments (besides math hw), only exams and labs. If you have good time management skills I’d say it can work for you, but be prepared for the possibility of always being tired and never being allowed to skip a day of studying! ALWAYS go to class as well, I made the mistake a few times of not managing my weekends well because I was just utterly exhausted after each week. I ended up having to skip a few classes against my will because I simply didn’t have enough time in the day to make up for the time lost, and that’s obviously a dangerous cycle… and allnighters are a thing of the past! Its not even close to being an option for me anymore, I make it to maybe 3am and die lol. You have to get your sleep each night and eat well/take care of your physical and mental wellbeing to last like this the whole sem. And also, fresh fruits, veggies and water will help you out energy-wise more than sugar, carbs, and caffeine because you won’t crash after a few hrs… Good luck!
