Are 4 years of continuous language classes required?

The reason I ask is because I have language classes up to Chinese 3 completed, and I'm a sophomore (I took Chinese I in middle school). However, my class schedule will not allow me to take Chinese 4 my junior year, so does it matter if I take Chinese 4 my senior year, leaving a gap in my junior year? My other classes are AP Calc BC, AP Chem, AP Language, AP Computer Science, AP Art, AP Physics, and AP US. I also heard that taking an on-level Chinese class could actually lower my GPA... Is it worth switching out one of my classes for Chinese 4?

No college I know requires four years, just recommends the good foreign language background. Three years of one language is just fine.
