Daughter is trying to decide her housing for next year. We couldn't find
anything that mentioned which dorms had air conditioning. Any info?
Also, daughter thinks she wants one of the low rise dorms, so any advice
on which one would be appreciated.

Hmm, I live in SoCal and I noticed most apartments and homes do not have AC. You really do not need it here. It is rather chilly often in SoCal. IDK why people think it’s so hot here? UCSB is on the beach so there is gonna be a lot of ocean breeze. My college is currently near the beach and it is FREEZZZZING because of the wind cutting through.

No dorms have A/C and as above said, you really won’t need it. Just bring a fan and open the window if you enjoy cool air more than mild

A fan will more than suffice.

Thanks everyone. Not needing air conditioning does surprise me but bringing a fan makes sense. Are all the low rise dorms about the same? Daughter wants to be with freshman.

Idyll, I think she’ll want to bring extra blankets as well. It gets really cold at night, even during the hot seasons. It was rather chilly last summer, as I do recall. Had to wear a jacket all through June through October. Hopefully the dorms have a heater.
