Just a quick question...(thinking about this now that it's hot in the PNW without AC in the house....) do the dorm rooms at Stanford have air conditioning? Or do they just employ the good old fashioned open the window trick?

Just wondering....

From what I've seen, they often (if not always) do not. Stanford's location is advantageous in that it's cool for most of the year, making AC unnecessary. During the summer, it can get a bit hot, but having a fan on hand is probably helpful. (I have a fan, all year round even though it's not necessary.)

I can't think of any dorms that have AC. Some of the graduate student dorms do, but that's about it. It's actually quite nice for all but about four weeks out of the year, two at the beginning, two at the end.

Oh-oh....did I goof up by ordering flannel sheets? Uff-da! I was thinking AC where sometimes it can get pretty cold at night...

^^ Well, it will be very cold in the winter. No snow, but at least temps dip into 30's or 40's for winter nights.

Mostly everyone in my Palo Alto neighborhood does not have AC. Those that do rarely turn it on (usage is around 10 times in 1 yr).
