Are AP courses taken through Virtual Virginia difficult?

For anyone who has taken an AP course through Virtual Virginia, please give me insight into your experience. It doesn’t matter which course you took, I just want to know how rigorous it was. Also, how well do you feel like it prepared you to take the AP exam(s)?

At my kids’ HS, the less typical AP courses were taken through Virtual Virginia. Between the two of them, they took AP Macro/Micro, AP Pysch, AP Human Geography, AP Art History, AP Comparative Politics. and maybe AP Environ Science.

Younger S didn’t take any AP exams. He went to an in-state public and all of his DE courses (in other subjects) transferred for credit (50+ credits). Older S got 5s on everything that he took, but he was a high stats kid.

As far as course rigor, they both got As in all classes. The amount of work depended on the teacher. For example, both of them took Human Geography. Older S had hours every night. I don’t remember younger S complaining at all. But I believe as long as you did all of the assigned work on time, it was not that hard to get an A.
