Are Cal States the schools that are very good for producing teachers?

Hello, I am very interested in becoming an elementary school teacher and I want to major in Liberal Studies. (Elementary Education) My parents want me to go to a Private University, as I could probably get a tuition exchange scholarship because my father works at a certain Private School.
However, it doesn't sit right with me.
For some reason, I'm more attracted to CSU's. I feel more comfortable. And I love the CSU GE pattern and assist.org. It's just so easy .Seems more my alley. And I was always under the impression that CSU's were just MADE for producing teachers and issuing teacher credentials. Is that true? Are CSU's great for that sort of thing? I'm aware that pretty much every CSU offers credentials and a Liberal Studies program and are quite good. What about other schools though?
The thing with the private schools, I don't want to take the risk of following something I might not even get. (Full Scholarship, acceptance) CSU feels like the safest and best option for me, and that's what my gut is telling me to get my undergrad. What should you think I do? I'm not eligible for financial aid so how would I go about getting scholarships? Thank you for your time.

SDSU has an excellent teacher credentialing program, but they may be impacted.

I’ve actually thought about SDSU.
That’s really great to hear. THank you for your response.
Are you by any chance in the program at SDSU?

Not for at least 25 years but the graduates coming out of that program are phenomenal.

Scholarships are based on your stats and, since the state colleges have limited monies, they are mostly for instate residents. SDSU is impacted in everything. Your stats have to be better than stellar to get in and to possibly have a chance at some merit money.

Another vote for SDSU, although impacted if your Stats are competitive you should have no problem getting in.
Freshman STATS for 2014:
Average GPA: 3.7
SAT (Math + CR):m 1150
Scholarships are difficult for all UC’s and CSU’s, but if qualify for financial aid and are in-state, you would have a good chance of getting some grants to offset your costs. You will have a better chance of getting merit aid through the private universities vs. the state schools so I would pursue both.

Thank you all for your responses.
They have been a big help.
And I will definitely put SDSU as one of my top choices!

I believe Sonoma State has an accelerated program that allows motivated students to get BA and credential in 4 calendar years. It is a very well respected school in this area (nursing too). It also has a private college feel. Check it out. I think you will be impressed with the program and the campus.
