Hepstar, people here post to try to help others. They usually don't do it with malicious intentions. If it is their belief that you will not get into a certain school because your numbers are "too low", then perhaps you shouldn't have asked for their opinion in the first place. Anyone who has been on this forum for more than like a week knows that ccers, by and large, have little to no idea what they are talking about. People post and ask for their chances anyway, though, so perhaps your criticism should be directed at those who want to know, from a bunch of high school kids who have no relation to any admissions department, if they will get into a certain school.

Some people don't know as much as others. On the other hand, it's often hard to tell with the top schools, because Person 1 may get in, while Person 2, who seems equally qualified, doesn't.

With the Ivy/Stanford, it can be hard to tell (unless the person just sucks). But with other schools, it's easier.

"okay, rn't u one of the CCers too? Rn't the ones who post in 'What r my chances' r CCers too?"

I'll admit that I have posted on the chances thread, but I don't take many of the comments seriously. I do it more to satisfy my curiosity; to see if I'm NYU material by CC standards. I put much greater trust in my GC, who has been assessing people's chances for years, than a bunch of high school students who don't know much more about college admissions than myself. Asking them your chances is like asking a minor league baseball player what it is like to play in the majors. They might have an idea, but are probably not the best people to ask since they have never played in the majors, just as a high school student has never gone to college.

I've posted my NYU chances twice. Once I was told it was a reach. The other time I was told it was a definite match. Therefore, the answers you get can vary quite a bit.

I don't see why everyone has a problem with this thread, especially since it is supposed to be a guessing game. Just guess the chances and stop debating.

Yes, Hepstar's intention is just to have fun and let us see how well we do at these chances. There is merit in the argument that you can't give an accurate prediction because of the information that is given but hey, we can have fun with the numbers right? And, based solely on numbers, we'll give you our best guess.

American University-Accept
MIT-Reject
NYU-Accept
Columbia-Reject
Boston College-Accept

If he is a recruit for any of those schools he is likely in every where except Harvard (does not recruit for track) and Yale. I don't know about Georgetown.
