Stop asking for your chances for schools that are so competitive

I have to admit that I used to be like many of you by asking for my chances at top schools. I also admit that I used to say "I will chance back", which makes absolutely no sense; how can you give your prediction as to where a student might get in when you can't even predict your own future? Hopefully you see the irony in that. I'm not that kind of person anymore.
While many schools are very objective, most schools that posters list (ivies, top tier privates and top UCs) look for the subjective. It is very difficult and thus pointless for us to predict our chances at these schools; there are too many factors at play.
These forums should be primarily used for schools that are much less holistic (aka schools that primarily look at gpa and SAT) because holistic schools are very difficult to predict . By asking "will I get into MIT with a 2350?" and questions like that, you're scaring off students who are wondering if they get in their schools with their relatively "low stats". In these forums, an SAT score of 2000 is frowned upon, even though the average score for the nation is much, much lower.
If you are very curious about your chances for top-tier schools, go to the "official" decisions forums that are from students who have applied in former classes. There are also common data sets and averages for you to look at in various sites. These websites only give you a ballpark; they do not predict the outcome.
My message is this: stop wasting your time and go do something else. If you really like using CC, then go to some other forums and answer another student's question. Many of us boast about our high stats, yet there are many students on these forums who are looking for ways of improving their academic careers. I am sure you can answer some of their questions.
The world is not going to end if you don't get into a top 20 school; go out and have some fun. Enjoy your last few months with your fellow high schoolers (speaking to the seniors). As for the underclassmen, don't waste your valuable time here when you can be doing something useful.
