Just wondering. I’m in 10th grade right now and I have a Chromebook. I like that they are relatively cheap but can still do a lot. When I go to college, would a Chromebook be enough or do I need a more powerful computer?
I’d say no. You need something with MS office hardwired into it that can operate without internet connex.
Yes. My usage of a computer for college has been entirely within Google Drive (when they ask for a Word document, I use the “Download as .docx” option–haven’t touched Office yet). I would recommend getting a 13 or 15 inch one simply for ease of use. Should you ever need to do non-Internet work, you can dual-boot Linux Ubuntu on there with Crouton.
you will not need more powerful computer, but I bet by the time you graduate, we will have some new fancy laptop you would want for the sake of having it.
many colleges have computer labs. if your degree requires heavy computing, it’s mostly done in those labs. (i.e. coding.- i prefer doing them on desktop then laptop. )
have a fun with yout chromebook. perhaps chromebook will get better also.
The viability of a chromebook really depends on what your major is. CS major: not a good option. History major: seems feasible.
