^
how come that only holds true for job interviewers and not graduate schools/professional schools etc..

You can say 'like' in every sentence and still not have to type it ;)

On chem/ochem, I have kids who have taken them at both campuses, Cal & other UC (not Riverside as was mentioned above) and both found them difficult. The curve may be slightly more of a challange at Cal, as so many kids are top of their class, but kids at UCSD, UCI, UCD were also top of their class, many also with UW 4.0, etc, they just did not have some amazing thing happen to let them into Cal. My two were statistically the same HS applicant, but one had some amazing 'tip' type experiences, so they are equally 'smart.'

In my parental experience Cal & UCLA see themselves as competing with Ivies and try to provide more campus support, so some one who buys into all that may find a more supportive peer group, especially as most people live around the campus, some of the other UCs are more commuter schools so there is not the same level of study group support

but i think the challenge makes Cal so great...because by the time we graduate...we will be more smart? lol...either that or we will be dead :S

The material probably isn't harder, but you have to study more because all the kids study so much thus pushing up the curve.

I have friends in all the other UCs except Merced and it seems that they are not as stressed as I am, especially in the chem/engineering and business fields. The entire semester is an uphill struggle and I never feel secure about my grades until after checking bearfacts over break. I get my ass kicked every week and had even considered transferring elsewhere for a while, but overall I think it is worth it in the end :)

ya i wouldnt be surprised if chem is harder at cal since berkeley has a good chem department, as well as math.

Pinkerfloyd - That quote is wonderful. Who said it? (Or wrote it, probably...)

I have friends at UCB and i even sat in some of their classes and I can tell you that it is all hype...

The hardest UC in my book is UCSD....

What's with you and UCSD?
