Are Econ TA recitation sessions mandatory?

I know that it is to ask questions/ explanations but if I have none for the moment, am I still obliged to sit there sleepless at 8:50 AM? The grading does not include this in any way so why would it be a problem?

Depends on you professor, check the syllabus.

Seeing as how Econ is on a curve, I would do my best to get as good a grade as possible, even if it means attending things that might not be “mandatory”.

Well, the syllabus does not say whether it is required or not but I’m guessing not since the grading depends on 3 tests and homework only.

I understand what you mean flight23, but in most cases, rereading the material carefully can help you understand better than to lose sleep and go to a session that will merely restate what you read. I will still go once or twice and see what it is like but I probably wont go there all the time.

I never had an econ class where they were mandatory, although I once had one where you had to turn in the homework at recitation - 75% of us just showed up at the beginning, stuck it on the pile and left. Don’t go unless you need to go.

^thanks potatoes. My homework is online on Aplia so really have no reason to go to this early morning recitation since it does not even count for participation.
