Senior grades sent to colleges when you apply?

Yes, at least to all the schools I'm looking at.

Ok, so would schools like Stanford, Yale, and others of such high caliber also count them, because I heard we have to send in apps before the 1st semester is over? Also, one last question. During Junior year, I am taking all advanced classes that are not AP per se but are counted as 5.0 for the UC's (I live in Cali). Would other universities, such as private ones, also count them on the 5.0 scale, or would they do that only for UC's. Thanks!

HYPS type schools are going to want you to send your first-semester grades to "update them on your progress."

Are you talking about weighted grades? Most schools will look at your unweighted grades (but the HYPS type, if they're considering you, will probably look at both) and then look at your transcript to see where most of your grades are coming from (honors, G/T, or regulars).

I have no idea about the UC's, but I have heard of a "UC GPA"? If you have a high GPA/SAT, you'll be okay in UC admissions, they're really numbers oriented and GPAs/class ranks are important.

After you send in the application, there are additional forms that you give to your high school to send in. One goes with the official transcript (thru the end of junior year), the GC recommendation, and then two teacher recommendations. There is then another form that goes out after the mid-year grades are available.

Whether or not the adcom goes to the trouble to find the mid-year grades after the high school mails them depends on the college and whether or not you are a borderline applicant. Obviously they won't bother if you were an auto-deny. If you were a auto-accept, they might or might not depending on the adcom policy at the school. They will try to get it if you are a borderline applicant.

UCs have a 4.5 Cap..

they dont consider GPAs higher than 4.5
