We paid the enrollment deposit online tonight but didnt find where housing applications are available. Did we miss something?

I was told the housing applications for freshmen are typically not submitted until sometime in March. I do not know how registration works or how selection times are alloted.

No matter if you enrolled or not, if you’re on your self service and click student, it should say something along the lines of - personal info, enrollment, residency, housing. If you click housing and choose your campus, it tells you if housing apps are up yet. If you’re a Columbia freshman like I am, we will receive emails when the housing app goes live.

aristrutz523: can you access your University of South Carolina email account?

Where is that? I don’t think I’ve tried.

It is under self-service, personal info. Issue is that they have designated campus email as preferred email and so far other posters have not been able to access it. Not good if housing/college info is being sent to this email

Theyre available now!

Is anyone able to edit it yet? Because I submitted but it says you can edit it until May 1, but it wont let me right now

what do you mean by edit?

^You usually can change your hall preferences and/or roommate preferences all of the way up until May 1.

@AUGirl : how do you reaccess it after submitting?

I don’t know if the process has changed.

However, when I was applying for both freshman year and sophomore year housing, I went through VIP. You simply could edit the application at any time. You edited it and then hit “save”. It was kind of “locked” in place once May 1 came around.

I don’t know if the program has changed. If it has, you might see information about being able to edit it, when in reality you can’t. That’s how it used to work though.

Is there any advantage for signing up for housing now vs. mid-April? DD is still waiting to hear from one last school but I don’t mind putting down deposits now if it helps the situation. Are all freshmen guaranteed housing at USC?

It is my understanding that the kids are given housing based on when they applied to the university. I would love to know if there is a “but” with that statement. We also have not deposited but would be willing to do so if necessary.

All freshmen are guaranteed housing at USC. It is based on when you apply. Now it doesn’t guarantee your first choice. The possible “but” would be the living learning communities including honors and capstone have own priorities. Oviously, if you request a roommate that can affect what you get since they need 2 openings in a given dorm.
