Are married income first-years still required to live on campus?

This is a question pertaining to a student's case this year.

@MegaraGirl-- to my knowledge all first years are required to live in on-campus housing, although I don’t know how often it really comes up that a first year is married and wanting to live off-campus. I have heard that they have made exceptions for students with children in the past, but it really seems to be done on a case-by-case basis. Your best bet would be to speak with someone in the Housing office directly to talk through your options in this situation.

You would really need to speak to the University directly about this. Once you are admitted it is a perfectly reasonable issue to bring up.

For what it is worth, when I was at Chicago a third year transfer without children (yet wed) was required to have a meal plan and attend a certain number of house functions, but otherwise lived in a high rise in Hyde Park. It seemed like a reasonable balance given her husband worked during the day and therefore could not have a late breakfast / lunch with her anyways.
