Do we have to send them? Or do we only have to send them if they ask for them? I'm terrified and I really don't want to because I took an advanced physics course this semester and got a C in it. I knew from the beginning that I shouldn't have taken it because I'm terrible at math, but I wanted to show them that I could challenge myself. I applied for film, though, (not engineering or science!) and I feel like my lack of aptitude for physics shouldn't ruin it, but I'm still scared. All of my other grades are As and Bs. :/

You’ll be fine with just one C. It’s not even in your area! Yes, the midterm report is mandatory.

This is what I found from the website:

How do the grades I earn during my senior year of high school factor into USC’s admission decision?
Generally, for the purposes of admission into USC, we review an applicant’s coursework from grades 9 through 11 for admission into our fall freshman class. We may, however, request 7th semester grades (12th grade, fall semester) before making a final decision. Those students from whom we require 7th semester grades will receive letter requesting this information if we need it.
Once admitted, all students are required to submit an official copy of their high school transcripts in order to verify their graduation dates. Students’ transcripts will also be reviewed to ensure that they have maintained a continued level of academic achievement. A serious downturn in a student’s senior year could result in the rescinding of an admission offer.

…so i dont think they’re required :)

I’m just really worried because I haven’t gotten a C since (I think) freshman year… and I already thought my GPA was pretty low by USC’s standards (~3.5 UW, 3.9 W). I really hope my portfolio is good enough to make up for that…

I have the same GPA dream. If you excel in other areas besides numbers then it won’t matter.

Cowman, I just looked at your profile. Our stats are eerily similar. I’m glad there are always a couple of people who don’t have 4.0s that still get in. CC posters usually have high stats and it’s discouraging.

You:
UW GPA: 3.4
W GPA: 3.9
Rank: Top 10%
Class Size: 516

Me:
UW GPA: somewhere between 3.4-3.5
W GPA: 3.9
Rank: Top 20%
Class Size: 560

What major did you apply for? I applied for film.

Political Science, but I think I might want to switch to Public Policy. Either way, my ECs are very relevant to my major, in fact they led me to chose it.

Woah. I am in the EXACT same boat. I have a 3.5 UW and I want to major in Political Science. and I am on the verge of getting a sucky GPA this semester because
4 out of my 6 classes are AP (which I kinda regret doing but oh well). I hope they dont ask for my senior grades… I am working hard but my GPA doesn’t represent that very well =(

Someone needs to start an “underqualified applicants” thread. :)

It’s REALLY refreshing to hear that there are others in the same boat. While sifting through last year’s threads I found that there were some people with our stats that still got admitted. CC gives us such a skewed perspective of the type of applicants that get admitted.

My GPA this semester is good. 4.1something W, 3.6 UW. I have 3/5 APs, Psych, and Multicultural Literature.

My 1st semester junior was 4.26, 2nd was 4.00. My 10th grade killed me. I had like 3.4 and 3.67 W :(
