I am applying to the follow ivies: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Princeton, and Yale.

Here are my stats:

African American
ACT Superscore: 30/27/31/28/10 (English/Math/Reading/Science/Essay)
SAT II: 660 M1 620 CH
GPA: 3.94 Unweighted, but reporting 4.1 weighted
Class rank: top 12% (but likely I will be in top 10% by graduation...)
My application is FILLED with activities/volunteering/honors/awards; like I know they are great
I have AP Lit, APUSH, AP Chem, AP Spanish, and AP Gov pretty great for my HS the rest are honors/other classes

My question is: I have written great essays, a strong personal essay for commonapp, and I expect to get great recommendations, but I am worried that not being in the top 10% during application submission will hurt me; are my chances ruined?
What can I do to improve my chances?

safety at the crap schools (Brown, Columbia, Cornell, UPenn, Princeton)
low match for yale

mdr jk

but not being top 10% (how does your school report rank) , comparatively low wgpa, relatively low test score might subtract from your 3.94. listing your major ecs might help people gauge your chance. aa should help your cause! gl!

Maybe he meant crap as in crap shoot, Brown’s ACT 25% was 28 not too long ago, and recently 29. So <25% had lower ACT scores than around 29 when admitted into Brown. Idk maybe it was a joke, but he could mean like a toss up?

Thinks you overemphasize the value of Affirmative Action

Cornell’s your best bet, but ivies are crapshoots for all, and there will be people with higher test scores.
You’re more likely to get into a lot of good schools that aren’t ivies given your test scores.
Just remember to have safeties & matches to go along with your ivy aspirations.
Good Luck!
