Are my chances that BAD?

I am South Asian(Indian). I live in Houston, Texas. I wasn't getting a lot of responses in the "What are my chances Forum"?

G.P.A.- 3.8/4.0 (Unweighted) 93.8/100 (weighted)
Class Rank- Anywhere from TOP 15 PERCENT To TOP 19 PERCENT (I don't know for sure)------I KNOW THIS IS BAD...HOW MUCH OF A FACTOR Do YOU GUYS THINK IT IS? Look at my grades below and tell me if they are good enough.....My counselor did say in her rec, that at surrounding schools I would have been top 10 percent.....Do you guys think schools will see my rank, and my gpa, with my sat score and assume my school is compeitive, or will it hurt me a lot?

Are you applying to Rice? If so, would you choose Northwestern over Rice? By the way, your chances look okay. You have better SAT scores, but my rank tend to be higher. All in all, I say you got a decent shot.

a B+ in PE gosh no chance

hehe just kidding
you never know thats why i dont like chance threads but id say its definately good enough to where they look at the subjective stuff

Your chances are as good as anyone's, but fishing will get you nowhere.

lol just because he's from Houston doesn't mean he's applying to Rice...

Plus, Northwestern's weather is wayyy better than Houston's. ;)

unfortutaly, I was rejected from Rice E.D.....I dont know if its becuas I live in Houston or something....but I wasn't even deferred.... Northwestern has a better social enviroment than rice...and its academics are way better....my parents made me e.d to rice because they like the idea of me being 45 minutes away from home lol....

Rice does tend to be harsher on Texas residents, they prefer people out of state.

your chances look pretty okay, all the kids that I know who go to Northwestern have taken loads of APs and are AP scholars like you! However, your SATs could be a little stronger especially in the midst of this year's strong pool of applicants. good luck! =]

rice prefers people out of state, really?

^^^ I guess....I looked on the rice e.d. thread, and I saw some kids get in with 1300/1600s because they lived in places where rice doesn't have a lot of applicants.....

whoa you have a very competitive school
i mean do they rank by UW or weighted GPAs?

rank is weighted, my weighted rank is 93/100(they only do it on a 100 point scale for weighted), our valedictorian has a 2390 sat score, and a 101/100 weighted gpa
