are my chances that bad??

SAT 1 1490/2400 (retaking)
Class Rank 131/259 (upper 50 percentile)

heres the heart breaker
WGPA - 2.4
UNWGPA - 3.1

Well I didn't know the difference was between weighted and unweighted gpa. until a few days ago, and it hurts a lot. I was in Central Magnet Freshman year I had like a C+ average in most classes because the classes were accelerated except for a few, but when I moved to my new school they shoved me a lot of sub-par I would say like average to underaverage classes, I assumed they did this because they saw my average grades in my previous school. I would get A's and B's but my weighted gpa is still low as heck because the level of the class. This is was from junior year, so the past I can't change, I'm a senior now and i'm taking regular classes, and i'm hoping my GPA can get a boost.

I think i'll be doing volunteering at my local library and hospital to improve my chances.

My only notable class is
Honors Biology Freshman Year, and just the fact I can say I did biology as a freshman, and chemistry as a sophmore, but I got a C in both so eh..

I guess i can mention that i'm first generation
I will be the first going to college in the family
and i'm a minority i dont know if that helps..

so what do you recommend I work on?? this is my last year and I really need a hail mary I think in order to get into uconn.

Short answer: Yes.

Your only hope would be to retake the SATs and do incredibly well on them.

Okay Thanks. Any study tips for the SATs?

Honestly, the test is learnable, so if you spend a considerable amount of time taking numerous practice tests and making necessary corrections to methodology, it will help you greatly.

If you are a senior, though, you will need to apply relatively soon. It may be your best bet to apply and attend a regional campus initially, or attend a different school initially, and then transfer in. There is nothing wrong with doing that.

aww man that sucks…I don’t wanna go to the regional campus, well I’ll just take the SATs a few more times, but if I don’t get into storrs i’ll apply elsewhere, Thanks.

Oh yeah i got in :d

that’s great, congrats!

I didn’t notice the date of your OP, but I thought you were doomed. Congrats to ya! UConn is a great school.

thanks kaylala and limabeans

i retook my SATs but each time i took them they dropped significantly so i just took more difficult classes and I did great in them and have second honors right now. I begged my gudiance couselor like crazy and he wrote the best recommendation letter for me

Congrats! Keep up the hard work! Best wishes in the future.
