I am curious of what you guys think of my chances of getting into The University of Connecticut. I'll list any notable information below in list form.

Info:
-I am currently a Sophomore in the second semester
-Averaged an 86 Freshmen Year unweighted. What is that in GPA?(4 Point System) (3.44 Right)
-Averaged a 91 Sophomore Year unweighted to this point and am going to work it up to a 92 or 93 with luck. What is that in GPA?(4 Point System). (3.64 right)
-I Averaged a 1610/2400 on my PSAT's. I am a good standardized test taker, especially in math. What are my chances if I get a 1700 - 1900 on my SAT's.
-I currently run track and play soccer. In track I run a 5:04 mile. In soccer I played both JV and Varsity this fall, but mostly JV. I started every game and we were undefeated.
-I have been playing guitar for 3 years and bass for a year.
-I participate in an average number of extra curriculars including habitat for humanity and DECA bussiness club.
-I am currently an NJ residant if that means anything.
-I go to the number two school in south jersey which is well renounded in NJ.
---On the negative side I had 2 grades below an 80 in freshman year, but none this year thus far and will hopefully never have to deal with that again. They were a 78 in Acc. Bio and a 74 in Acc. Geom. my school uses a 7 point grading system so the 78 is a C and the 74 is a D.

I really want to go to UConn for many reasons including but not limited to appropriote classes for what I want to major in, the life-style, and it is not too close but not too far from where I live.

What Suggestions Do You Have For Me, and Any Info About The School Will Help As Well.

Hi! I’m a current senior living in CT. I got accepted to UConn honors (SAT 1390 for CR&M), and I know several kids who are currently students there or who are planning to attend next year. I think your chances are probably pretty good judging by who I know that have been accepted (granted they’re all in state, being out of state may help/hurt or not affect you, I don’t know). What are you planning on majoring in? I think you’re looking good for College of Arts & Sciences, but Colleges of Engineering, Business, and Nursing are more competitive (engineering more so if you are a boy, nursing more so if you are a girl). All are also excellent programs!

Also, remember that (as of now) UConn does not consider the Writing section of the SAT, so make sure your Reading and Math are especially good if you’re set on UConn. It is also the type of school that gets more competitive year after year, as tons of valedictorians & salutatorians from instate high schools go there for the automatic full tuition scholarship they receive – and I know for in state kids UConn is highly encouraged by basically every adult you meet and recognized as being an excellent school that is also reasonably priced (for us at least).

I’d also urge you to visit (as with any school!) because UConn definitely has some features that would be either love it or hate it (HUGE, in the middle of nowhere, sizable party scene) for many people. Personally, I thought it was kind of neat that it was its own little self-contained town basically but didn’t really have the “aha!” moment I had with some other schools.

Basically I think if you keep your grades like they are and especially if you improve you’ll have no problem. And your EC’s are definitely good for UConn (it’s such a big school I’m not sure how much they REALLY factor this in as long as you have them).

Also the basketball teams are awesome ^^

Good luck!!

PS I’m not a ‘professional’ by any means, make sure you talk to more reputable sources like UConn, your parents, and guidance counselor about all your options. And your GPA estimates look about right to me.
