Are my ECs (and stats) good enough for Princeton?

Here are the only things that are real hooks: recruited athlete, legacy (accepted at about 4 times the rate of the unhooked at Pton), URM, child of major donor.

You have a very good shot at Princeton. I honestly don’t know what else to say except write a good essay and get good recommendations. If you don’t mind me saying, if you want to go into a law/polsci career (as do I), maybe Princeton isn’t the best choice. It doesn’t even have a law school, while schools like Columbia and Cornell have excellent law programs. By all means, go to Princeton if you must, I’m just saying. Good luck.

I don’t think that your SAT II scores are up to par yet, retake them as quickly as possible, you don’t want to be rejected for being academically ineligible. Hooks have been well described above; URM, legacy, major donation, athletics, national awards ,becoming a semifinalist in Siemens or Intel is a big boost, finalist is even better but that is really hard to get. Only the last is really in your reach so if you can, start doing some research! Most of the finalists have been doing their project for more than one year so if you want to get a good project you have to work hard. Some of your hardships could make for a very good essay, but they are not hooks in it of themselves.

Rockysterling, it seems like a good time to figure out what an unweighted GPA is. A is 4, B is 3, etc. All colleges look at unweighted GPA, noboby looks at weighted GPA. The hard cold fact is that if you have 4.0 and perfect SAT you have about only a 30% chance of getting into Princeton or any of the top schools. Since I took a lot of AP courses last year I hanged out with bunch of seniors and there was much heartache aimong the top students in that class. Actually I don’t even know where I stand, let alone giving others advice. All I know is everything that can be done has been done, and the only thing left to do is fill out the applications. God has a plan for all of us and I am going to enjoy my senior year no matter what.
