Are my GPA and Scores too low to get into an Ivy if I am not an athlete?

Hi,

I am a senior in high school and I have:
-a 4.34 W GPA
-36 ACT score
-800 Math II
-770 Chemistry

-many extra curriculars including 2 of my own businesses
-highlight: participated in 8 week long paid science research internship at prestigious research institute this past summer

-rec from P.I. at institute

  • 2 very good recs from school

-very creative personal statement essay

Be honest please, I would love feedback because I doubt my possibilities.

I will be honest. What is your real question. Seriously. A pat on the back or an atta girl? Not sure what your question even means.

Weighted isn’t it. They look at the transcript, see courses and grades. Owning a business is not a tip. Top colleges are looking at college relevant activities and peer engagement. “Creative” isn’t what makes a great personal statement. Again, it needs to show the parts of you/traits they look for in their class.

It’s not enough to say, “many extracurriculars.” It matters what and your involvement.

Duke is very open about what they look for. Be sure you scoured their website, to learn what will help you.

Your perceived hubris may be more problematic than your stats.

Your standardized test scores are excellent, and it’s disingenuous at best, humblebrag at worst. to ask if they are high enough since you can’t get a 37 or an 810. Your GPA is meaningless out of context since weighted GPA means nothing outside your HS. What is your UW GPA?

Anyway, stats are just one portion of the application. People get rejected every year with 4.0/36/1600 stats, while some with lower stats get accepted.

Are you asking if a 36 ACT is too low or if we know what a humble brag is.

I’m sorry. I did not phrase that correctly. I meant is my GPA too low, not my scores.

And yes. Thank you all for your feedback, I did not mean it in any arrogant way at all.

Sorry if it came off that way
