I am a 10th grader and i got my 2011 PSAT scores back in Nvember. I got:CR:55, Math:53, and WS:60. my selection index was 168.<---i have no idea what that is! HELP ME PLEASE!! Are my scores bad? good? OK? what does my selection index mean?? Thank You in advance for answering my question, and if i am in the wrong thread line then i am sorry i am new to CC. HELP ME!

To see if your scores are “good”, there should be percentiles included to compare with other students who took the exam.

To roughly convert to the SAT, add a zero on the end. So, your scores would be CR 550, Math 530, Writing 600, Total 1680.

The highest possible score in each section is 80; the highest possible total is 240.

Whether or not your score are “good” depends on which schools you’re aiming for. Check out the websites of the colleges you would like to attend to see if you’re within their range.

I personally don’t really think PSAT is that great of a predictor of your SAT score, because the curve for the PSAT is worse than that of the SAT. I got quite a bit lower on the PSAT than I did on the SAT (and I took them within days of each other), but that might have just been a fluke.

My percentages wre 85% above sophomores in Cr Math:78% and reading 95%. What does this mean?

Means that for CR, you’re better than 85% of the students who took the best, for Math you’re better than 78% of the students and for writing you scored better than 95% of the students.
