Everyone talks about going to parties and what not on official visits. So do most official visits take place during Friday and into Friday night?
I think most do because they want you to perhaps attend a class, go to a game (not necessarily a game in your sport), take a tour. We went to one that started on Saturday and continue to Sunday.
Official visits are limited to 48hrs on campus, so if a school intends to use their allotted time, mist visits will start Friday afternoon and go through Sunday afternoon. But there is no rule that the visit has to happen on a weekend. I know Columbia ran their visits Thursday to Saturday a couple years ago to take kids to see the NYSE. I am sure there are plenty of examples of OVs being built around some event on the calendar.
If you are very high on their list they may be able to do a visit at another time, when the other recruited athletes are not there. Be careful, though - you may get even more of a Potemkin village view of the school and team than the normal OV would. My advice would be to go at the same time as the other recruits, usually Thurs-Sat or Fri-Sun.
