Are placement tests necessay?

I plan on following a pre Med track and a few friend of mine with similar pursuits say that I have to take placement tests for calculus and chemistry? Is this true? And if I were to score low on one test and retake it, would I be bumped to a higher level class?

Umm yes you do have to take them, you can’t take register for certain classes without it. Unless of course you don’t mind taking the basic/intro math and chem classes. The ALEKS test you are allowed to retake it, the CHRA you’re not. I didn’t have to take the ALEKS tho since my ap score waived it. However I’m also not taking anymore math so that might also be why I got away with it. :3

Theinsky, if i bring the score report Collegeboard sent showing my passing AP Calc AB grade to preview, i don’t have to take ALEKS right?

I would still just take to be safe. the test was not that hard and if you passed calc ab you should be fine. There is no calc on it, the hardest stuff is trig.

@ZapadniyRus: yea, just make sure to have proof of that passing score and you’ll be fine.

Thanks!

How do predicted IB/AP scores work in giving you credit? I know completing preview prep, you had to enter in all your predicted IB/AP grades. Will we be able to sign up for classes based on the predicted grades?

yes. they don’t give you credit yet, but you can register as though you passed them.
