Are PSATs good practice for the real SATs?

CR: I think its great practice for critical reading since I don't feel its a dumb downed version its just shorter
M: I think this is sort of dumb downed, but I think this Is a good way to practice not making stupid mistakes!
W: Im not sure about this section, but it does seem like good practice for reinforcing grammar rules into your head, and definitely good practice for the improving paragraphs</p>

<p>there’s plenty of real practice tests you can find online which would be WAY better to do than PSATs. Just search google or collegeconfidential and you can find plenty of links. You can also get 10 real practice tests from the blue book.</p>

<p>Im aware of this lol, but I wish to conserve the last 8 real practice tests for critical reading I have for later. Right now I want to get better at the critical reading questions to be frank. I really don’t see a difference between the PSAT and SAT since they are both based on a curve, hence 10 wrong a on PSAT will not get the same score with 10 wrong on an SAT (obviously).</p>

<p>But for a second opinion, if you had PSAT practice tests, would you use them for the real SAT? Im trying to get all the practice I can get</p>

<p>It is pretty much just a shorter version. The SAT is great practice for the PSAT, as well.</p>

<p>It usually go the opposite way. The questions are similar, just the length of each section and the writing part is different.</p>

<p>If you are going to practice, then practice the real test in timed conditions.</p>

<p>I’ve found pretty much the same thing as you with the different sections, but I think the writing is pretty similar to the real thing. Math is definitely easier on the PSAT, though.</p>

<p>I personally thought it was good practice, especially for getting you ready for the “testing environment.” The SAT is MUCH longer though, and the PSAT doesn’t let you practice the essay. Here, I’ll show you my scores and let you decide for yourself.</p>

<p>My PSAT results were on point except for the writing, but that’s probably just because I got really into grammar Junior year haha.</p>
