Does UF require a certain number of SAT II's for admission?

no they're just for placement

Bobbo07 is correct. They are not needed at all for admissions, however if your child wants to place out of the language requirement (some majors have this, including undecided) then the SAT 2 in a language is needed.
From the website:
Foreign Languages: French, German, Latin, Spanish

Students who have previous background in one of these languages and who wish to enroll in the same language at UF must demonstrate placement. Such students should take the SAT II placement exam for the appropriate language (unless the student has passing AICE, AP or IB scores for that subject). Students should consult the SAT II, AICE, AP or IB charts to determine placement based on their scores.

In general, language placement is determined by a combination of placement scores and high school background in the language.

thanks. with all the tests my son has to take this spring, its good to know they are not required. i am sure, like everything, they don't hurt to have on your transcript, but its good to know they aren't required!
