USC is my top choice of school, but everybody whom I mention it to says that everybody is kind of stuck up. At the very least, I've heard a lot about everybody highly prioritizing their appearance. How true is this today? Obviously with such a large school, there will be all types. However, does it seem like a higher percentage of the students are a bit shallow? I plan on visiting the campus if I get in to get a feel for it myself, but I guess I'd like to hear some about people's personal experiences with other students.

Everyone seemed really nice and welcoming when I visited.

The people I know who go to USC are pretty down to earth so while I’m sure there are shallow people on campus, I don’t think they make up the majority of people there.

Wherever you go you will come across people like that. People shouldn’t narrow that down and categorize USC like that.

Definitely visit USC and make up your own opinion! Visit different dorms/campus eatery spots and talk to students randomly— we did this and it gave us a lot of information. We found students were happy to take us on informal dorm tours and spend a few minutes telling us about their experiences. D was somewhat worried about fitting in, and found out quite happily, that there were all types of people at USC.

At any large university you will find all sorts of inidividuals. SC is very diverse with students from all over the nation. Fourteen per cent of the class that just entered were the first in their family to attend college. Over 50% of the students are on financial aid.
Over 60% of the students volunteer for community service or do charity work.

Check out the website. There are lists of projects that students have initiated or are active participants.

Due to the top notch art schools I think you will find a large number of extrermely creative, imaginative and talented students. Many have already had success in the entertainment industry.

Have any of these people who gave you opinions ever attended USC or spent any time on the campus?

Caring about one’s appearance does not equate to being shallow. I visited the campus in November, and I did notice a lot of good looking students…But I have no way of knowing if they are shallow or not.

And if you’re anticipating a lot of stereotypical “dumb blondes:” Keep in mind that USC is not a super easy school to get into, so no one will be stupid.

As the girls at SC say…

don’t hate me because I’m beautiful

and don’t assume I’m shallow, superficial, or dumb

geez
