Be honest. Heard Greek life rocks there, Maxwell school etc but don't want to go to school with dicks.

With the attitude that you are projecting in this post, I’d sorta think you’d feel quite at home.

From the SU website:

FINANCIAL AID Last year, nearly two-thirds of SU students received over $178 million in Syracuse University grants and scholarships. Overall, 80 percent receive some form of financial support, including assistance from institutional, federal, state, or private sources.

Don’t believe everything you hear…see for yourself

Yeah maybe sounded a little dick like. Just wanted honesty.

We know lots of middle class kids from our town who went there. If you think frat boys are jerks, then avoid them.

thanks. did they like it? shouldn’t generalize any school…but just wanted a read. appreciate it.

They’re there, and while they seem to be in the majority, they are really in the minority. There is plenty of diversity in the school, and by diversity I mean diverse in ethnicity and socioeconomic background.

I felt the same way before I applied, but I actually visited the school; I think a lot of people over-exaggerate it. And to be honest, you’d run into the stereotypical “rich Caucasian” kid at any school on the east coast. I’m a middle-class Hispanic from Los Angeles receiving a lot of financial aid, and there are several others similar to my socioeconomic background. You’ll find your niche, you won’t even have to bother with those types of people you mentioned.

Thanks, appreciate the input. Are you happy there? Can you give me a top line on academics , social etc. Sure the weather’s a shock coming from ca.

Ha! Syracuse is like any major university; in that there is a lot of diversity in people, attitudes, lifestyles, and interests! Syracuse is a little bit known for having quite a few “japs” to put it lightly. And to be honest, it is pretty noticeable my first year there especially during rush season, but there are a lot of other great qualities to Syracuse that make it more than just “Rich snobs”! A lot of the friends I made last year fit into that category but who cares! You should not judge a book by its cover, everyone at Syracuse is pretty great. The atmosphere is wonderful (even in the winter which is basically all year) and there’s always something to do (especially party)! Academics? It depends what your planning on majoring in, but for the most part freshman year is like a trial for everyone- meaning everyone has different experiences. I’d say the hardest thing about freshman year was passing my finals (or staying awake from numerous allnighters to study for them) and rush week!

Thanks. Great input. Appreciate it. Heard much about Greek life. Any comment there?
