Hi!
I am a non-resident of California so the estimated fee says 51K or something like that. I was just wondering, since I'm planning my budget, if anyone who is/has been in my situation can tell me whether these estimates are accurate?

Tuition costs are pretty much decided unless they decide to increase. If you’re on-campus, the room and board costs are pretty set for the type of room you get so just check those costs but they can vary if you’re living off-campus depending on where and how many apartment mates etc. You can only really vary in budget for books+ supplies, transportation, and personal expenses. Those really depend on how much of a big spender you are. I basically never paid for transportation and simply took buses or shuttles or got a ride when I needed to go somewhere, except for shuttles to the airport and for flights home. Flights home were around 150 for me round trip, and I only went home about three times for major breaks. So transportation costs for me were probably only about $500, but that varies per person. Books and supplies were lower for me too since I borrowed/shared a lot of books or bought them used, and for general supplies I didn’t buy too much stuff or took stuff from home. So I probably spent like 1000 being generous. Personal expenses can really vary depending on the person, there’s food, concerts, shopping trips, so I can’t say how accurate that is. I know some people who probably went way over that or under it. Health insurance depends probably on if you already have it or are purchasing SHIP, which would increase your costs. So I’d say the estimate is pretty accurate in general, but you can always go under or over depending on your spending habits and budgeting.
