Are the freshman mandatory S/NC courses worth it?

Especially if you plan to take other Writing Intensive classes during your first year?

Define what you mean by “worth it”? If the class teaches something that you are interested in, if the professor is good, if you will learn something – doesn’t that make the class worth taking? Why should the S/NC status matter?

I was asking if it was worth it to improve your Writing Skills, or if other Writing Intensive courses can also do the same. If for instance you enroll in a Writing Intensive freshman seminar, would it then be unnecessary to take the classes also.

@MathisAmazing I wouldn’t worry about that right now. Choose classes you think you’d enjoy for the content. As you might discover soon, just because a class is WRIT-designated does not mean it necessarily has a lot of writing, and same is true for non-WRIT courses. If you truly want to focus on just writing skills, that’s when I would recommend something like “The Academic Essay.”
