are the seagulls in your area aggressive?

so i've read lots of stories + seen lots of pics of seagulls stealing food from people. plus there was that seagull in britain that stole doritos from a store.

but none of the seagulls in my area are aggressive at all. they have a moderate "flight zone" for birds at least (generally Anseriformes have the smallest "flight zones", almost to the point that they'll only flee if you try to pet them, while corvids and seagulls have larger ones. the small birds dont even seem to notice that you're there, but they'll flee if you get moderately close).

anyways, where do you live and are the seagulls in your area aggressive?

ill start:

seattle
not aggressive

kansas
not existent

new jersey

aggressive

i live in southern california. they’re pretty aggressive!

Northern Virginia

aggressive

seagulls (or just birds in general) and squirrels in NJ: aggressive

I am in Pennsylvania now but can’t assess the seagull aggressiveness because I’m in a city.

upstate NY: polite and reserved

Select norcal beaches: Will eat out of your hand. Whether you offer it or not.

Bay Area: Reserved scavengers.

They are all over the school at lunch and like to take craps on everyone.
Socal.

Bay Area–terror of most of the school.
cracks up laughing thinking about it

Ohio

Not extant.

NYC.
What are seagulls? :X

Seattle (actually, a city near it)

practically non-existent

^^ lol what city?

lol i guess they dont exist on the east side

OMG the next time a bird tries to take something from you, punch it as it is trying to bite something from your hands.

Show them whos aggressive >; )

Upstate New York.

Not aggressive at all. Over the summer we have contests to try to catch them. One kid actually did it by digging a hole at a beach, sitting in the hole, and putting a blanket covered in potato chips over the hole. This is the only time anyone has ever succeeded, but is is considered cheating because you are supposed to catch them with you bare hands.

Do seagulls carry any diseases that you could contract from bites or scratches?

this takes the cake for pointless threads. except the college confidential puppy thread…

we don’t have many seagulls, although they aren’t very aggressive.

Yes, the imaginary seagulls in my area are extremely aggressive.
