Are there any serious repercussions of dropping these CC courses?

Hi there,

I’m currently an HS senior who’s enrolling at a 4-year college this fall and planning on applying for sophomore transfer.

Right now, I’m dual-enrolled at 2 community college classes online, English Lit + French, and I’m really struggling to keep up with these classes in addition to the 6 AP classes I have in HS. I’ve been taking these classes since Spring but I’ve pretty much prioritized HS work over CC work and I just found out that I have a C in both classes. Both of these classes are not attached to my HS transcript and my HS counselors have no idea that I’m taking them. I also have AP French and AP Lit credit.

So, I’m thinking of dropping both of these classes to protect my GPA / High school record. I also have the option of pass-failing these classes. The thing is, however, I listed these classes on my 1st-year application for most of my target transfer schools next year. Thus, my question is whether dropping these courses will severely hurt my transfer applications in the future.

Thanks!

I wouldn’t say they would “severely” hurt your chances, depending on where you’re applying. By the time you apply to transfer, the colleges will be looking at your first full year of college grades. Some highly selective colleges won’t even accept dual enrollment courses for transfer, anyway.
